Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has played down speculation that he is planning a January swoop for Arsenal winger Theo Walcott.
Several newspapers on Friday morning carried reports that the
Anfield outfit could be set to make a bid for the England international
for a fee of around £10million.Walcott's
current contract is due to expire at the end of the season and talks
over a new deal to extend his stay at Emirates Stadium have stalled. The discussions have become deadlocked over the 23-year-old's wage demands, with Walcott also keen to be regarded as a central striker, rather than a wide player.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger
is keen for his future to be resolved before the transfer window opens
again in the New Year, but Rodgers insists the current spate of rumours
have no foundation.The Liverpool
boss told reporters: "There's nothing in it. He's an Arsenal
player."http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11669/8219842/Liverpool-boss-Brendan-Rodgers-rejects-links-with-Arsenal-winger-Theo-Walcott
