Arsene Wenger was happy with Jack Wilshere but Gervino injury mars QPR win

Arsene Wenger was pleased to see Jack Wilshere make his return for Arsenal in the 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers, but now fears Gervinho faces a spell on the sidelines.
Wilshere marked his first Arsenal appearance in 17 months with an impressive performance before being replaced midway through the second half to a standing ovation at the Emirates Stadium.
"Overall it was, if you consider he was out for 17 months, quite positive," said Arsenal boss Wenger. "Of course, he still lacks the rhythm of that level but he will get that with competition."
However, Wenger could now be without Gervinho for a prolonged period after the Ivory Coast attacker was stretchered off late on with an ankle injury.
Wenger added: "It's an ankle problem and how damaged the ankle is we will have to wait 24 hours to know more but it doesn't look good."
Mikel Arteta's late goal saw off 10-man QPR and Wenger was satisfied to pick up three points following back-to-back defeats against Norwich City and Schalke.
"Because, when you lose two games the confidence goes quickly, for us today the most important thing was to win the game and it was a fight against a good QPR side and a fight against the nerves as well," he continued.
"You could see the confidence was not completely there. We were serious and it was important not to make mistakes and to take one of our chances, and that's what happened.
"It became easier when (Stephane) Mbia was sent off. Apart from that, I feel the team sometimes has to go through that and come out with the points, and that's what we did today."
