Toulouse vs Tigers
It was a game of Luke McAlisters boot and some shear individual brilliance by one massively talented 18 year old by the name of Gael Fickou.
The first 30min was a head to head clash with each team showing their physicality, and a brace of penalties for each fly half taking the score at 6-6.
Then some lack of common sense by Toulouse prop Gurthro Steenkamp tripping a Tigers player just before a 22m drop out. And that earned him 10min in the sin bin. So now Toulouse were down to 14 men and lacking in discipline and Tigers started taking control with another perfect penalty kick by Toby Flood taking the score to 9-6. Until some mouth watering play by Fickou were he pick up a Tigers knock on, looked up noticed a no-one at home and put a grubber through and chased down his own kick and picked it up just inside Tigers 22m line and then run over to score with a little pressure on him. Unfortunately Luke could not convert therefore Toulouse went in the break 11-9 up with their heads held high even through they are a player down.
Second half was all about Luke McAlister's creativity and his boot with some ill discipline from the Tigers and some fresh legs for Toulouse, Toulouse started taking over the game, finding gaps, closing down runners and some crunching hits. No matter how hard Tigers tried to fight back into the game, their discipline let them down and Luke stepping up and converting another 4 penalties Toulouse won the game 23-9 with Tigers failing to score a point since the 34th minute.
