Australia have suffered a major injury blow
ahead of Saturday's clash with England with confirmation that flanker
David Pocock has been ruled out.
The openside missed the 33-6 defeat in France last Saturday because of a knee ligament injury but the Wallabies had been confident Pocock would return for the Twickenham showdown.
But scans have confirmed that Pocock now has a calf strain, ruling him out of the game.
Australia will also be without lock Kane Douglas, who played in Paris but has picked up a knee injury.
The Wallabies' second row options will be further reduced on Wednesday if lock Rob Simmons is found guilty of the dangerous tip tackle he was cited for after the Paris match.
Douglas was urged by his family to play against France despite the news that his mother, Trish, had suffered a stroke on the flight from Australia on Friday.
While still in hospital in London, Mrs Douglas reportedly in a comfortable condition.
