South Africa bat out the final two sessions as the first Test against Australia ends in a draw

South Africa survived some early nerves as the first Test against Australia in Brisbane finished in a stalemate.

With Australia going on to reach 565-5 - for a lead of 115 - before declaring, the Proteas lost some key names before they were able to regroup.
By the time both captains agreed to shake hands the tourists had reached 166-5.
Australia skipper Michael Clarke stole the show early on as he took his overnight score of 218 to 259 not out - for a record Test score at the Gabba.
Mike Hussey was the only Australian wicket to fall as he was dismissed immediately after reaching his century - Faf du Plessis taking the catch at cover off Vernon Philander.
The Australia attack immediately cranked up the pressure - with Alviro Petersen caught by Matthew Wade off James Pattinson for five.
Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla both survived close calls before Australia struck again in the twice more before tea.
Smith edged Pattinson to Robert Quiney in the slips, while Amla was caught by Hussey off Peter Siddle for 38.
Jacques Kallis fell one short of his half-century when he was caught by Clarke off Nathan Lyon, with the spinner also trapping Jacques Rudolph leg before.
However there was not enough time left in the day for Australia to force a result as AB de Villiers (29) and Philander (1) remained unbeaten.
