Kevin Pietersen helped himself to a hundred as
England piled on the runs in their final warm-up match against Haryana
at the Sardar Patel Stadium B Ground.
The South Africa-born batsman returned to the fold following his
well-publicised absence and looked in prime form, smacking 14 fours and
three sixes in his 86 ball-ton as England reached an imposing 408-3.
His century - he retired on 110no - should help to continue what has been a smooth return so far after his contract wrangles and other troubles.
England's batsmen enjoyed their time at the crease against a modest Haryana attack as skipper Alastair Cook
Somerset star Compton appears to have ended any lingering doubts that he will open the batting in the first Test with another composed innings.
He drove well through the off-side against seam and was quick to use his feet to off-spinner Jayant Yadav as he hit nine fours in his 144-ball stay.
Cook struck 20 boundaries and was within one more blow of his hundred when he edged an attempted cut behind off Yadav and give Haryana their first wicket of what turned out to be a long, hot day in the field.
