Roberto Di Matteo says he will leave Sir Alex
Ferguson to talk about other clubs, while he has no worries that
referees will treat Chelsea any differently in the wake of their
official complaint to the Football Association over Mark Clattenburg.
The BluesA police investigation has also begun and Di Matteo would not be drawn into discussing the specifics of the case at his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea's
United boss Ferguson has declared that he does not believe Clattenburg would make racist remarks, and Di Matteo was asked whether there could have been a misunderstanding.
Responding to further questions on Ferguson's remarks, Di Matteo said: "He likes to talk about other clubs. We tend not to. I'll leave it up to him.
"It's a free country where everybody has the freedom of speech. We'll take into consideration what other people say and use it as a motivational tool for ourselves."
Di Matteo appreciates that referees have a difficult job and will not get everything right, but he does not doubt the integrity of Premier League officials.
Questioned on whether referees may now treat Chelsea differently, he said: "I really hope not, and I believe that they won't. We have faith in the referees.
"They are people that are under a lot of pressure, they are human beings like everyone else and sometimes mistakes can happen."
Di Matteo has no concerns about the issue having an impact on Chelsea's performances on the pitch.
He said: "We've been dealing with external situations for quite a period of time and we have been able to focus on our football, so we will just have to carry on like that."
